Global Entry is a program administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that helps expedite the immigration inspection process when pre-approved travelers arrive in the United States.
Around the middle of May this year, Global Entry applications for Japanese nationals reopened. However, Japanese nationals were required to obtain a promotion code in order to apply. Since the reopening, our firm has supported many applicants and successfully obtained approvals. However, in late June, the issuance of new promotion codes was suddenly suspended due to a shortage of available codes, and since then Japanese nationals who do not hold U.S. permanent resident status had been unable to apply for Global Entry.
Thank you for your patience. As of November 27 (Japan time), Japan has become an official partner country in the Global Entry Program, and Japanese nationals who do not hold U.S. permanent resident status may now apply without a promotion code. As of today (November 28), we have already submitted an application on behalf of a client who had requested our support earlier, and we were able to complete the application without a promotion code.

Japanese nationals are required to submit a family register certificate (koseki tohon) to the designated department of Japan’s Immigration Services Agency.
