Hello, this is Kou of IMS Legal Professional Corporation. Happy New Year! I am looking forward to working with you again this year.

In a press conference on January 6, 2022, Dr. Nakagawa, President of the Japan Medical Association, stated that the surge in the COVID Omicron variant has led him to believe that we have entered the sixth wave. It is not a war like in the past, but I think it is the biggest battle of humanity this century. The end of the battle against the virus is still nowhere in sight, but is it going to last forever? Also, according to an article on January 10, 2022, foreign nationals are still restricted from entering Japan in general, but the government is considering special measures to allow for entry of family of Japanese nationals and students. Will the application for the “screening certificate” based on the new border measures (19) be resumed?

※New border measures (19): "Relaxation of restrictions on activities during the 14-day waiting period after entry into and return from Japan" and "Relaxation of restrictions on the entry of new foreign nationals" which have been in effect since November 8, 2021 (currently suspended).

Application Support Service

In this blog, I would like to talk about our application support service.

Due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic that started from 2020, the number of customers who use our application support service has increased significantly. Some were worried about catching the virus. Others choose to use our service because right now, in order to enter the Immigration Bureau, you must receive a timed numbered ticket and enter within the time zone written on the ticket. Also, many people don't have time to visit the Immigration Bureau, being busy with their daily work. Many of them use our service as well.

In addition, if you apply by yourself, you need to go to the Immigration Bureau at least twice. If your application is not accepted due to inadequate documents, you must go to the Immigration Bureau again. Therefore, even though it may cost more, many choose to use our service where they can get support from visa specialists.

Benefits to Our Service

By using our service, you have no need to go to the Immigration Bureau, and the administrative scrivener, a visa specialist, will create the application form, and check and help prepare the required documents. After the application is accepted by the Immigration Bureau, goes through the examination, and successfully approved, we will go to receive your residence card. You can use our service from start to finish. Also, we provide online consultations and can exchange documents such as passports and resident cards via mail, so there is no need to worry about corona infections such as the Omicron variant.

At IMS, we offer various types of residence applications (permanent residence, renewal, change, certification, etc.), naturalization applications, and services for receiving residence cards on behalf of our clients. Regarding our service for receiving residence cards on behalf of our clients, currently, as a special measure for the COVID-19 crisis, we can receive the new residence card on behalf of the applicant even if they are not in Japan. (i.e. the applicant applied for renewal or change of status in Japan and was granted permission while temporarily out of Japan) In such case, the new residence card will be sent to the applicant via international mail, and they will be required to present it to the immigration officer when re-entering Japan.

If you do not want to go to the immigration office worried about COVID-19 infection, or too busy to go, please consider using our service.
