Former foreign students who have difficulty returning to their home country due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection will now be allowed to apply for permission to change residence status to “Specific Activities (6 months)”.

This is not just limited to those who have a “Student” visa. Former international students (those who have graduated from university, etc.), who have already been granted the status of “Short-term Stay” because of their difficulty in returning home, are also eligible.

  • Those who have a “Student” status and a valid (non-expired) “Permission to Engage in Activity Other Than That Permitted under the Status of Residence Previously Granted” are allowed to work part-time without receiving new permission.

If you are a former international student who cannot return to your home country due to the influence of the coronavirus infection and would like to work part-time while staying in Japan, please feel free to contact us.
